Coffee Club!

Just sat in Costa (as I often am being a slight caffeine addict and avid people watcher!) and a thought struck me!

I'm constantly seeing newbies being advised that the best way to get verified is to attend clubs and socials.

Sound advice of course - but it does bear a cost to the individual and there will always be those site members who have no interest in clubs and can often struggle to get to organised socials due to travel issues, location and cost of baby sitters etc.

So how about this for a random suggestion!

The 'Fab Coffee Club' !!

Many of us work in/travel to city centres or large towns regularly and are probably bored of window shopping, killing time on lunch breaks and generally looking for more interesting ways to spend lunch breaks/gaps before, between or after meetings. As there's no end of coffee shops on pretty much each and every high street - how about using them for social networking/offering verifications to site newbies - no strings, no expectancy and no obligation if the person you're meeting turns out to be a homicidal maniac /two headed alien.

Would certainly be useful to many, an interesting way to kill time - and would no doubt help the struggling finances of Starbucks (yeah, right!! Lol)

Or do you think people would be too nervous and worried about meeting random strangers in highly visible public places surrounded by the general public?

Your thoughts peeps??

I think it's a great idea. We do the same thing monthly for a local BDSM group that I'm part of. Works really well.

Great idea - if there's a brave person willing to take on the responsibility - you'll find there are lots of 'sheep' but Shepherds are rare.

Sounds like a good idea. I always meet first for a social and it's nearly always a coffee shop. If all else fails well, it's a cup of nice coffee.

Perfect if I actually fancied anyone in my area,im not shy in meeting anyone in a public place I just have a feeling it would be me and a load of single men,not really something I can explain if someone I know comes in for a coffee too

When I was a single fem I used to do all my social meets in starbucks, easy to find and safe environment, in fact Bob and I had our first meet/mission there.

Excellent idea Obi. I'd gladly be the shepherdess and organise such an event. My concern is that too many sheep might attract some wolves, or make them a little too 'visible'. But I'm willing to try one in December.

"Great idea but i bet it will be out of my area, they normally are "

I'm not suggesting a huge group event - just a way for people to kill time over lunch breaks in their own areas!

Maybe we could even get ourselves 'Fairtrade' certified?

think its a great idea. My first meets were via a social at a pub before an all nighter at pink punters was a bag of nerves but soon settled in. Would have loved it being a coffee with people.

only downside is attracting people specifically looking for an easy veri who then may not be genuine if that makes sense

It has the makings of a plan provided the time and place can be kept out of the public gaze.

BDSM muches have almost achieved a degree of respectability which swingers coffee mornings have yet to reach

How do you suggest organising this? I was thinking of putting up a meet but that means I'd either have to give details/place etc...and risk being faced with potentially a lot of people or opening my filters so that those I currently block could message me. Having tought about it, I cannot find an answer to my question.

Any suggestions?
