May sound like a stupid question. Come to think of it, it probably is a stupid question, but there is a point to it. Question is when does your shift in work start and finish?

When i clock in, and clock out. I never bring work home with me.

(Wouldn't fit it in my living room).

Yes im always reflecting on experiences at work,its part of my job,if I think if something that may be relevant to the next person that ive forgotten to mention then ill phone them up

Self employed - Work from home

Start 9am - finish approx. 3pm

Start again 5pm - finish 7pm

Start again 8pm - finish approx. 10-11pm sometime 1am

Not exactly what I mean. Example you work for a massive firm. Your branch alone employees a few hundred people. You are one of the "lower" level bosses. You clocked out of work, off duty and even though a colleague is genuinely working hard. You see something isn't right, like they are slow or something or an accident has happened. Do you hang around or do you think you are off duty. If it affects you on your next shift you'll have a word?

I thought that's what normal people are like, but going by this thread. I think we're unique and think differently."

My job is emotionally draining I have to protect myself in terms of switching off if I don't I'll be off on work related stress...

If something has happened after the time ive finished ill assess the situation,if I feel my assistance is required then ill stay for a while until its under control

I have a feeling what you and I do are probably the same. More a way of life than a job.

When I was a manager and something important cane up I would work extra to get it done so the clients hot the service they expected. I feel it's also good for the staff to see that you aren't afraid to do their jobs when required and allows you to appraise their work better by having relevant experience

Too many managers now see the work they cane from as beneath them and so lose the respect of the line reports. Without them you have no workforce and no job.

official hours are 8.00am til 20.00pm

i arrive at work 7.30am though just to have a drink and 'wake up' a bit.. i like to sit in on the hand over so ive a heads up on what happened and any changes.

sometimes i wont leave til 20.15 though as i dont like to leave things unfinished.

thanks to KRONOS i dont get paid any extra for arriving early or finishing late, but if i arrived at 8.01 i loose 15mins pay

Ah KRONOS!! how much do I not miss that. Although ours only took the actual minutes off is. O don't see the point in deducting chunks of tome as you are just encouraging people to be latee. If I am going to lose 15 mins pay I'm gonna have 10 Mims more in bed

I do split shifts

6am till 12pm then back on at 4pm till 10pm i work 7 days on on off
