Earlier this year it was claimed the mystery driver was professional stuntman and Le Mans racer Ben Collins. but who really knows?

we know who the original stig was (friend of K's brother)however just checked his web page and it seems to have been pulled for some reason. Its a long story but can tell you he was a Le Mans driver, worked for Audi and did get on the starting grid in F1 but it definately wasn't/isn't Schumaker.

He also wrote a very funny book about his exploits and how determined he was to get into motor racing.

Perry McCarthy's website is still up and running, he does regular promotional events for Sky (my husbands employer). We saw him at Nigel Mansells golf club down here at Woodbury in Devon last year at a charity event.

nope sorry schumaker aint the stig,only reason he was dressed as the stig,was he was the only one insured to drive that specific car on the show

So Clarkson & co were being economical with the truth once again, no doubt to get more applause & wow factor etc.. Why does'nt that suprise me!!.

The stig is very rarely the same person, and alot of the time is the manufacturers own test driver.

Ben Collins and perry mcarthy have both had stints.

Btcc driver tom chilton drove the bugatti veyron round the track as it was his dads car, and a chance for some good PR for him as bugatti won't let them put one o there own cars around the track

like all of top gear it's all very scripted and set up ! Great show though, we were in the audiance last series

I live rite on the track where they film the cars, in Dunsfold n i dnt see the same driver every time they film! Couldnt tell u their names tho! But have a great view from my back bedroom!!
