...went on a good-humoured rant lately about how he keeps asking for a villain role in the Batman films and keeps getting turned down. He wasn't joking though...

If Danny DeVito could pull off the Penguin, then what villain do you think Hanks could play?

Don't say Bane, he's chunky but not that kind of chunky!

Come on. Kind comedic types like Hanks play the best villains. Nicholas Lyndhurst, Richard Attenborough, Anthony Perkins, Robert Carradine, James Belushi, Danny Devito, Heath Ledger. There's something about when the laughing stops.

The man is a marvellous actor and has the knack (since the 90's) of choosing winning films. He could probably pull of a villain. How about Mr Freeze?

What this clever lady said. The amount of unlikely Batman support actors right up until Ledger says it all. You dont have to play villains to be a good villain. Also recognise that many of Batman's villains were ordinary people if not promising geniuses until something changed them
