"The reasons that people go for brands are convenience, market permeation and that you know what you are getting. Bill Bryson has a few interesting words to say about unbranded hotels his dad took the family to in 1950's America. I'd concentrate just the same on the meet, regardless of where I was." It is a fair point, but what is wrong with risk taking on non branded products? Otherwise well all end up shopping at tesco, drinking costa and sleeping at premier inn luxe or premier inn budget.. It'll be pretty boring then i would think?

"Hmmm If I'm meeting someone for a social coffee, I'll stick with costa, as that way I know something is guaranteed to please " I stick with Costa for first meets because it's anonymous and the staff couldn't care less if I turned up and met four different men in one day - they probably wouldn't even notice! With an individual place they are more friendly and may well make a point of noting me...

"I've been thinking of how much brands permeate every day society and influences almost everything we do and every decision we make. Although not unique 'fab' means different things to different people but i wonder whether those who arrange meets would be interested in an experiment that excludes using any mainstream brands for meets? For example: No chain coffee shops No chain hotels No chain restaurants etc Basically debranding your meets to focus purely on the pleasureof those you are meeting. As a little bonus we could be supporting independent and boutique business across the country. Just an idea - anyone interested? Where is that tumble icon again? " I ALWAYS try and turn up for a social without my wallet or any loose change ) have u seen the price of coffee??

Plus the other £50 gym membership to keep the bastards off my waist. Not one fab coffee contained in that bill either. Dread to think what it might be if i ever get the hang of it. Haha.

A flaw in my plan to help independent retailers everywhere!!
