Could apply an autumn lawn feed now, that will stimulate and extend the root network, rather than promote green growth. Next summer the lawn is better able to withstand drought, as its root network is more extensive.

Otherwise, I encourage people to grow some wild plants, as wildlife loves them of course. Whilst not a ton of nettles (though they help many butterflies), there are some beautiful wild flowers. For spring, primroses and cowslips are pretty and have a lovely fragrance, and help feed early bees that are foraging.

Or was the op asking if anyone needed any advice?

thats about ironing, fella, you have missed the point.

only gardening advice i can give is, dont bleedin start!

its a shite passtime and never ending.

if i could have green tarmac i would, however, i have the next best thing, gravel and astroturf

I'll have a look at that, have to check the ingredients out, there is quite a lot of 'human' foodstuffs that is bad for dogs I usually avoid giving him anything but dog food. The lawn is a very fine grass, sort of stuff you'd expect on a bowling or golf course green. It's looking very patchy now though
