"What's your opinion on fireworks at home in the garden with kids is it ok or do you prefer the safer option with an organised public display? I am from a country where they were banned years ago but the public displays are fantastic!!"

Oh dont get me started on bloody fireworks.

They should have been banned from public sale years ago.

Organised displays only ...

I know there are responsible people who buy them but they are slowly becomming the minority....

very true, but if you have a dog then you might think otherwise, we have had 4 nights on the trot of fireworks putting out dog in great distress, if it was one night then fair enough, i dont want to be a kill joy, but every night is a bit much, never mind the damage they can do, or the people who get hurt every year, i think public display on the weekend near to the 5th should be enough for anyone, if for instance i wanted to play loud music everynight, and sod the people licing next door i would be seen as antisocial

I couldn't agree more its educating people we need to go with and respect for neighbours not banning things as it clearly doesn't work.

just come to the conclusion that the fiercer the name the shittier the firework is weve just lit a one called sparkle mist and it was excellent then we saved ,KRAKATOA SEMTEX BURST for the finale,3 short bangs a crackle and a pphhut and that was it

It's not as bad as it used to be with local kids letting off fireworks in the street in the run up to Bonfire Night.

Incidentally, I spent one New Year in Leipzig. My hubby (at the time) and I went to a fireworks display there in the Augustusplatz. It was brilliant but then was spoiled by all the people in the crowd also letting off their own fireworks. It seemed to be the done thing. I saw children with backpacks stuffed with rockets! And these were young children with their parents.
