North Londonshire???

I just heard something really weird on the news.

Corby was the largest town in Europe without a train station - so it got one.

Now the powers that be have decided to rebrand the area as North Londonshire even tho it is 90 miles away from London.

Seriously who makes this up??

What were they smoking or drinking at the time??

If you live over 69 miles away from a city (the closest town to London that will be in the area is only 69 miles away) your area can now be called that city shire well thats it now isnt it, almost all towns can be rebranded with the bigger towns or cities names.

Or is it a vain attempt to dupe thick tourists who dont know that London is the BIG place and Corby is further up and smaller??

Now granted the name will only be used in advertising but surely thats even worse? You think you are going to this (imaginary) place North Londonshire but when you get of the train you find your in a whole other place cos all the street signs will still have the original name

I just did a bit googling (cos Im had no idea where Northamptonshire is) and even someone as thick when it comes to geography as me can see its not close to London.

To me its just some stupid "lets have a brain storm to come up with the daftest idea and see who falls for it"

I understand the problem (many places have the same problem) of low employment and even less money coming into the area, BUT is this really the best way to get people to remember the towns??

I think if the local council were to ask the locals most would prob say they would rather the roads got fixed and graffiti removed than the rebranding.

But again I may be looking at it from an oversimple council tax payer point of view
