In Your Hearts

It's just money up in smoke, noisy, smelly and scares the hell out of animal/pets.

Hate is a wasted emotion, fireworks are used to celebrate and excite people, day to day life is hard enough, celebrations and watching childrens faces smile and light up with wonder is a beautiful experience. Something that is free to watch, and is available to everyone

I believe there is a minimum age to buy fireworks 18 maybe?

At 18 you can legally drive a car, which can be dangerous,

At 18 you can drink, which can be dangerous.

At 18 you can fight for your country, which can be dangerous.

Should we stop or ban everything that is dangerous?

I do take your point but i still think selling fireworks to the public should be banned, there are a lot of dodgy imports coming in that are very unstable and dangerous in clumsy/stupid hands

although with all of those (apart from drinking) you are trained to prove you are able to practice them safely.

Unfortunately there are a lot of dickheads about who think its funny to terrorise the local community with fireworks.

Still doesnt stop me going ooooh and ahhhh when i see them though

Don't mind them now but used to fucking hate them after coming home from a tour of Iraq just in time for bonfire night... sounded far to much like incoming to me.

Tonight we are taking a new toy and bone approach. So far we haven't had any big bangs and he's not too bad. This week has been horrendous for him.

But I love fireworks!

I wonder what it is that makes some pets hate them and others not mind them? Mine are out and about at the moment not a care in the world.

I guess it's the same as humans bit I would have thought that the pack mentality of animals such as dogs and cats would mean they look to the owners for how to deal with these situations?

i think i must be going deaf cos i live mighthy close to a place that sets off the industrial type fireworks not cheap supermarket types and through my double glazing can only hear them when the adverts are on..

Ignore him and act normally....

He will pick up on the fact you're worried about him worrying.

Only if they believe you to be the leader of the pack, some owners treat their pets as equals

I'm ignoring him. When he's not hiding under the table he can have a cuddle.
