Way over Yonder, that's where I'm bound

When I took over one organisation I had a member of my permanent team I never met. She had been on secondment for 3 years and they wanted to keep her but couldn't have her permanently on their books (she was seconded to a government department). I only ended the secondment when I was restructuring and her substantive role was being deleted.

Not as far as I am aware, usually all parties need to agree unless they are under a mod contract and that becomes different

Not that I am aware of. As long as your substantive role still exists then you are operating on a variation of your contract.

Angus & Findhorn

depends on business needs, check with your HR department

you would think that after 12/18 months that they would put an addition to their budget/headcount submission for the next financial year.

I say if it suits, keep quiet if not ask the question of length of time. Also ask if it is effecting promotion prospects.

I think its a year or it is where I work, they usually only offer 11 month secondments and then either make permanent or go back to substansive role. Im not sure if its company policy or the law though.

If you have been doing the job for 2 years then you have the right to have it made permanent. Its the same with temporary work. The length of the secondment should have been simulated at the start any change should have been discussed with you. Seek union advice you have a good claim on a permanent position
