Had this 4 times this morning in various shops, where shop assistants put the receipt in the bag with the goods ive just brought. Anyone know they do this, is it a case of they are told to do it?.

So if your stopped for shop lifting.

The goods in the bag match the receipt.

Plus you know where it is when you need to take stuff back.

I also think that they may be legally required to offer you a receipt as you don't have a legal come back with one

God knows, but I like the one who ask do I want it instead

What is more annoying is when they give you your change of notes with coins on top, if I have my purse and bags in one hand and they do that I end up nearly dropping the money

And then they stand glaring at you to move whilst you're trying to sort yourself out...one of the many reason I prefer online shopping!

From personal experience, I always put the receipt in the bag because most times I went to hand the receipt to somebody, they'd refuse it and walk away. On the chance that they'd come back later wanting a refund and hadn't taken the receipt, they were always the type to kick up a fuss. So putting the receipt in the bag gives them no excuse, especially if they see you putting the receipt in the bag. However, I wouldn't accept that while grocery shopping. Your receipt goes in your hand with your change!
