I have endometriosis so still bleed which confuses men who know I've had the op " Firstly she only had her ovaries removed, they tried to save her womb to give her the option of IVF in later life as she was only 18 at the time, but ended up removing her womb as well, i actually have no idea if she still has her cervix, i know she no longer bleeds at all but she does still get mood swings, but we was told that the younger you are when they do the op the harder it is for your body to recover from it, and as it was only done 5 months ago it could be just her body still adjusting to the change, or the wrong medication i suppose, but they are working on that

" Eat healthier. Lose weight. Exercise. Periods are inconvenient in a modern lifestyle. Periods are NOT life threatening illnesses. A low percentage of women suffer abnormally. All women experience normal symptoms. I get narked easily and a MASSHOOSIVE headache the day im coming on. Because periods happen once EVERY fucking month. I KNOW it's coming. I don't overdo things in the couple of days before. I make the day or days before pamper days for MYSELF. Once I come on the symptoms are gone bar a bit of uterus sensation. We all know Christmas is coming and buy a turkey don't we ? If you really believe you are a severe sufferer see a doctor. Unfortunately doctors are so shit scared of telling people the truth they will probably give you extensive treatment that you don't need. " For some periods are not every month. Mine could lsst weeks and then I might not have one for ages. Totally unpredictable and very painful and heavy. Made normal life and routines impossible. Hence getting the coil.

" I'd been suffering with severe symptoms since i started my periods aged 12. Lasting as long as a month and often bleeding twice a month with as little as a week break in between. It was life threatening as it made me severely anaemic. It was VERY inconvenient, VERY painful and could be extremely embarassing. I could never tell if they were coming in as little as a week or as much as a month. I could never tell if I'd bleed a few spots or enough so that it would literally soak through my clothing and run down my legs! I did see the doctor. Several times over the course of 10 years- and each fekin time they told me I'd grow out of it, it was all in my head blah blah. Finally, I got referred to an ignorant gynae who did a laparoscopy/ endoscopy/ hysteroscopy and then proceeded to tell me my endometriosis was the worse he'd ever seen and my only option was a full hysterectomy. I was 26 at the time. Don't patronise when you've never suffered like that. You really have no idea what its like. As many as 1 in 3 women can show symptoms of 'abnormal periods' so its not uncommon. I had my right ovary removed this year as it was polycystic and showing 'concern' for pre-cancerous markers- not without spending weeks off work doubled over in agony- and now I get intense pain from scar tissue

It's nothing to take lightly when someone is in the minority who genuinely suffer outside of the ordinary.

What did the coil do to help ?" It is the Mirena coil which releases minute amounts of hormones. This can shut down the ovaries and stop periods. It has been found to be an effective treatment for fibroids which is what I had. Before that periods made my life a nightmare.

Wore 3 maxi pads to work, changed my clothes 3 times because of flooding and came very close to having an anaemia induced heart attack. Only option was hysterectomy for me. Gladly put up with sore boobs and crying for a day not to have to go through that any more. No nipple biting though too painful
