Is the Rebecca Brooks* trial a farce?

Rebecca Brooks and (7?) other defendants.

Expected to last 6 months, already reporting compelling evidence of an Editor's e-mail "go do his phone".

Why a farce? Don't the Govt agencies spy on everybody's communications in any event?

Should've waited a few years, what the younger end freely publish on Facebook/Twitter is often unreal.

Interesting comparison. Whilst I dont agree with such surveillance the any Gov surveillance has security at the heart of it. The Sun did it to make money and exploit people.

Absolute farce in my opinion , as is the Scotland yard pantomime being carried out in Portugal , ...it beggars belief that our so called national security units had no idea this was taking place ...particularly the Royal connection ....Uncle Rupert has much to answer for .

I was talking about this to my barrister friend last night.

His is opinion she's as guilty as guilty can be and should get 6 years for the crime but won't.

Say's it all when a barrister knows full well she won't get what she should.

She'll have one of the best legal teams going ( secretly funded by a certain Ozzie family with a stake in the outcome??? ) - & as the previous poster said, escape with a slap on the wrist due to having too much information on too many big cheeses. And she's a friend of Cam's also!!

I imagine the Australian American and Cam are shitting themselves at what else the prosecution might dredge up.

As for the six year affair, Was she not still married to Ross Kemp at the time it was alleged to be happening?

I don't really know about Ross Kemp (which one is he?), but poor old hubby must be going through the mill.

I don't think its a farce at all, some of the people who had their phones hacked etc probably don't think so either..

ffs, they even hacked a woman as her surname was Rooney cos they thought she was related to shrek..

'do his phone' eh, be an interesting defence that one..

I hope it isn't going to prove to b a farce as brooks, coulson n co's behaviour is deplorable if proven.

It is truly beyond the pale hacking n surveillance on people just to print that salacious Sunday rag!

I would hope if the case is proven they receive jail sentences

Even the wife & daughter of the lawyer representing the Dowler's were being followed by a private detective employed by a Murdoch, no doubt.

They've way, way too much power & because there's been too much police & government involvement in their dirty deeds, my guess is she'll get a slapped wrist.

Well said that man! They (GCHQ) knew and put up with it because they want Murdoch to keep supporting the system. They are all now subject to justice and the lady will have her way!

I agree with this post in the fact that all people want it to be a genuine trial and the guilty punished but in reality i personally doubt that it'll happen.

The potential fall back from this could be quite extensive, even global and i doubt politics would want that to happen.

Take the Leveson enquiry, the facts were presented with evidence of what was happening and the recommendations from that have, as far as im aware, still not been implemented and the press are still fighting to resist the changes I know this is now a legal matter but i doubt justice will be done
