Quality Family Time

inspired by the thread on school holidays I wonder what people consider quality family time.

How much of that do you get?

How much of it should be given to kids?

Is there enough time for family time AND time with your partner in today's busy world?

I make time for it every Saturday by doing cleaning and weekly shopping in the evenings.

Quality 'family' time should be spent with the kids. Until they get bored of their dad and go on their x-box/ps3, lol.

Quality 'me' time is when kids in bed asleep. Then i can get a go on the x-box!

if im not working im with my daughter, rarely get nights away. i love it though for me its just enough time apart for us to appreciate what we mean to each other.

i regain a little bit of sanity by working and she grows and develops new skills with other children. she becomes independent.

not sure if i would have time for a man in our life without it impacting on mine and my daughters life

depends what you mean by quality time, I think kids just like to know that you're there while they're doing things like, watching telly, drawing, playing etc and although they enjoy the bits of the day when you sit down and read to them or eat together and talk about their day on the whole just want to know that you're available.

Partners or a relationship needs quality time too but possibly differently to children, you do need to make a time for talking, being together as adults and sex.

Time is the most precious thing we have,

It makes sense to budget your time.

1 hour a day for you.

1 hour a day for your partner.

1 hour a day for your extended family.

30 minutes a day for each child.

8 hours a day to sleep.

9 hours a day to work.

2 hours a day for housework

and that may leave a little extra for the dog.

and of course you can save time so maybe once a week you have a day completely to yourself, or with your partner.

I would rather spend time with my kids than any one if I'm honest they make me laugh and fill the whole that used to be in my life, I have loved watching them grow into the people they are I do still need me time but that can wait lol

My ex got shut of me because i spent more time with my son than her ( not my son's mother ) even though she knew of his existence and was informed that he comes before anything else in this world...

every minute I spend with my kid is quality time,

I haven't got a partner so that is also quality time as no one to moan at me,

and when my lad goes to bed that is my time to do as I want, , normally that means just chill out and myb annoy ppl on the forums on here

Alas if i don't im not being a responsible/good parent. I constantly think and ask questions to the mother of my son as i only get to have him on weekends

im blessed to have one set of grandparents still alive and they are very much apart of my daughters life (her great grandparents). I just hope as she matures into an adult she will look back at photos and recall great times she shared with them.

I have few family left these days so weekend is the main time I spend with them apart from holidays.

When the kids are awake it's family time. We make everything we do into an adventure. I still have plenty of time for me. Just no time for ironing.

Illegal ironing, love it!

When the kids look back I want them to remember getting wet on water rides and laughing like loons. Not that they had a nice crease down their trousers.
