This is true and not only that, when I worked in a bar I used to see people picking their nose and then picking the peanuts out, also the bar owner used to collect the half eaten bowls and pour then back into the jar

He's really there to shame people into washing their hands. Seemingly the rate of hand washing drops off if the guy's alone.

You get some strange looks if you wash your hands BEFORE you pee.

There was a report in a paper not too long ago. It said that about 90% of swabs taken from tube train handles/poles had trace amounts of excrement... So it's not only pubs that have hand washing issues...
