Just heard an ad for the new Nintendo handheld. The 2DS, plays all 3ds games, but without the 3d effect.

Another 30 years before it's back?

My only experience of 3D has been at theme parks where the size of the screens were so large you really were taken in by the effect, but I don’t think I’d enjoy it on a smaller scale...

My Daughter, son in-law and 4 of my Grandchildren went to the Cinema to see a film in 3D yesterday. Cost more to see it than usual, but they loved it

I also have the feeling that 3D is a bit of a gimmick that won't really catch on in a huge way. I am old enough to remember the change from most records being mono to stereo. This obviously did catch on, but there was a time when there was talk of quadrophonic sound systems. True 4 channel sound. I even remember seeing a very "space age" looking quadraphonic system. I believe there were only a small handful of albums ever produced in quadraphonic. Never really took off in a big way though. Too expensive and the effect of four channel at the time was over kill and unnecessary. Probably a bit before its time. Nowadays, most/all films produced have multi channel soundtracks, but still we nearly all listen to good old stereo music.

I can see it still being used in the cinema. Mainly because pirates can't bring that experience to the downloads. But as a small screen thing.... Pointless.

We have a 3d tv and very rarely use it.

Possibly 10 times in 18 months. We have found that the best things to watch seem to be documentaries. We did watch some 3d porn on ours once and it was crap.

Isn't time the 4th dimension?
