The Uk have been issued a yellow alert warning ... The lowest alert , amber being medium , and i assume red being severe.

A yellow alert means high winds ,, trees may fall and flooding may occur.Motorists have been warned to drive carefully and be aware of theses dangers.

The last time we had a similar storm was 1986 ....

So the Met Office says ... Plz dont shoot the messenger ,, looks like its macs and wellies ..

Still not too bad here on our bit of the south coast. A bit blowy and cloudy but there are sunny patches too. It rained last night and thundered a bit (or was that fireworks?) but no rain at the moment.

Maybe things will get worse, maybe they won't... who knows when it comes to weather. It seems to be a bit of a 'ish' science.

Blimey...I've lived all my life by the sea...all joking aside I am savvy where risk is concerned. Winds are nowhere near 80mph at present...not expected to be until Monday morning. As for the dark...not expecting to be walking around much after 5-6pm.

The last big storm in 1987 blew a tree onto a Range Rover I had owned for five days .

Rather they get it wrong and it's milder than first thought than get in wrong like 87 "

Was thinking that. I remember waking up to a lot of destruction after the storm in 87. My local town centre at the time was like a war zone , broken glass everywhere x

I just re-checked your profile for your age . I don't remember this at all but tbh I had lots of other shite going off. A weather storm was a breeze in comparison.

Just for information purposes, it has been known for different parts of the country to have varying effects of weather at times. I not sure if this is a new concept for you or whether you'll be able to grasp this concept. I would explain more but I really can't be arsed.

Winds are picking up here now. Just had a look outside through the kitchen window and a thirty foot tree that's in my neighbour's garden is swaying crazily. If this comes down it's going to make a mess.

On the satellite pic earlier, it looked like the eye if it was gunna hit the isle of wight square on - so unless you live in south Wales, the far south or southeast - you should be fine!!

Good luck from M. Fish

Staying awake won't stop them blowing down, unfortunately. I've got some fairly big trees next to me and I'm in a loft conversion in a bungalow, it seems with the direction of the wind though they'd probably go the other way (I'm hoping)

Done the table as it's a glass topped one and the wind is blowing it toward the house. The dog won't go anywhere but in the bed... Have you ever tried forcing a Staffie into a drawer under your bed
