usa and spying

Have been reading quite a bit about whats allegedly happened with usa eavedroppin on angela merkel germanys leader it seems likely other worl leaders have had same done.

Obama says its not happening and will not did not say it had not happened before.

Euro leaders are rightly up in arms about this which i find the whole thing disturbing.

What concerns me is that cameron says he understands germanys frustration and concern and mentions the unique data sharing we do with usa. Cameron must realise he will have had same done to him.

If by the unique data sharing deal we have with usa involves gchq helping spy on those involved then this could rightly have serious implicstions for cameron.

Hope i am wrong but fact we have helped usa with rendition of alleged and subsequently released terrorists is that we have helped spy on the leaders.

You know that they'll be spying on us too, right? They call their own soldiers terrorists when they blow the whistle, they call their own NSA terrorists for blowing the whistle, they make millions in German gold bullion go missing from their own Federal Reserve when they're paid to look after it.

The US government is as crooked as they come and they will spy on anyone if it means getting their greasy hands on anything that will keep them at the top of the game.

Cameron isn't the first PM to think he holds any influence over a President.

There's also a kerfuffle afoot about a Belgian Comms Co being hacked into, spyware placed in the systems to tap into ALL the taffic that flows through the pipes in Belgium, which conveniently includes Brussels.

A Tip : add a code word to your profile, so that if ever the NSA or GCHQ contact you, you will know whether or not they have read all your profile.

Absolutely. And let's see what "troubles" China runs into over the years when the US can't cover the economic distance...

Especially since Osborn is over there trying to scrounge off them already!

I care little for world leaders but lots for us normal citizens, who our governments should be working for. Our governments and security agencies have stepped outside of the laws to eavesdrop and breach our privacy and it is very wrong. People doing this must be made accountable and punished.

Doesnt anyone else find the whole surprise/shock/outrage/yawwnnn general discussion completely irrelevant....

The only element of even vague passing interest is the political embarrasment of whoever mishandles there moment in the headlights...

Spying, intelligence, information gathering etc etc in whatever guise has occured since time imemorial and will continue by all parties on all other parties etc etc....anyone failing to recognise this is really living in a very pleasant moral bubble and I would love to join them if I could.....my sympathies but as my mother matter of factly divulged as my first and elderly dog departed this world 'i know it sucks son, but thats life'...true wisdom

I would have been surprised if it did not happen and more surprised her phone was not ultra secure from spys

It probably was who knows? but every secure phone needs to be activated and for every activated secure phone theres a new eavesdropping program/device protocol..thers always human error and its the natural evolution of all things tradecraft...whose to say there isnt some alternative reason for intentionally appearing vulnerable?

Spies spy, that's what they do. Bad spying gets caught and sometimes the spied upon let the spies know they know and sometimes they don't.

The kerfuffle will be about masking something else. No doubt we'll find out soon enough.

Anyone who lives in North Yorkshire knows the US have been doing this for years. Menwith Hill is run by the US military and listens to phones and mobile phones, as well as doing other things. It's nothing new, and it won't ever go away.
