Orange to EE migration

Suddenly found myself unable to access FAB using my phone, due to my Orange account being migrated to EE, and the new account has safeguard set as on as default.

I had to prove I am 18 via my account in order to re-set my safeguard setting.

Some of the features such as data usage and remaining minutes are not available.

No big deal, however, I just wish they would inform me about the migration in advance.

Anyone has similar issues today?

Ive been on ee for a while, im on contract and have the safeguarding turned off. However every now and again its switched back on automatically for some reason. I just turn my phone off for a few minutes and when I switch it back on I can access fab again. Wierd.

I was migrated to EE ages ago, again without warning. It's been annoying in several ways.

They also told me I couldn't keep my Orange insurance but had to "migrate" to their plan which was 1/3 more expensive. They justified this by pointing out theirs has extra features, which I won't use and don't want. I told them to stuff it.

My contract is up very soon so I may go elsewhere.

Reception here has been very poor since the switch over, so I am leaving Orange. Which is a shame as I have been with them for years

Mine was fine, but IIRC I had prove I was 18 a tear ago for Orange

We've got new contract phones with virgin media, every so often my safeguarding goes on and I have to phone them and kick off at them. It's ridiculous, they should know who is under 18 and who isn't. Had to give our dates of birth when we got phones!!

Everything everywhere should be nothing nowhere, think that's all I need to say.

Sadly they want £380 to end my contract early despite their lack of service. At the farm I struggle to even get a signal to text, on Orange it was fine.

I find the signal on orange to be very erratic, I can receive a txt and without moving can not send one, its so frustrating, to have to wander around trying to find a signal!!!

When I upgraded my T mobile it went to EE. Every month I have to prove I'm over 18 to use Fab and my previous unlimited data access which I was told would remain the same I used up in four hours!

Get some advice on this. You may be able to argue that the changes make it unreasonable for them to hold you to your contract. They will do their best to insist the contract is valid and enforcable but I know some people have successfully argued in such situations.

I think there has been discussion about this on Martin Lewis's Money Saving Expert site. Have a look there. Maybe join the forum and ask.

just because you gave your date of birth votive the phone doesn't mean who is using the phone is over 18, we have 4 contract phones 2 are used by our kids who are both under 18, its a 2 minute phone call to take it off, them coming safeguarded is better than them not,

Regards the other issue we were with t-mobile but switch a while ago, just after they merged, because there were just rubbish

yes.... EE told me they have had random issues with the "content lock" going on phones.... they said to me for some reason it was mainly affecting Iphones

they were really nice about it with me and offered me a 5pound discount off my next bill

Putting the 'cum' in Eboracum

I changed my daughters phone earlier this year and it had to be moved from Orange to EE. I am still having problems with EE not recognising the number and transferring me back to Orange, who then don't recognise the number and pass me back to EE. She is also having the same problem as Miss_tress, when her previously unlimited data now gets used up within a week. They locked the online account so I couldn't access it, so had to phone to get it deleted so we could set up another one, otherwise I can't see itemised bills.

I might get her to move to O2 when this contract is up, but she needs to 4G so not sure what to do.

I am with Talkmobile, which is shit for a whole lot of other reasons.

there is a little nugget of news that actually has happened this week concerning mobile phone contracts that is interesting

because most "contracts" are now 24 months the OFT looked into why mobile phone companys were allowed to raise prices during that time

they are not going to be allowed to do that anymore..

so.... starting in 3 months time, when you sign up for a contract phone... you get to keep what you have for the entire time, or if prices go down they will have to offer you the cheapest price

however, if they want to put the prices up.... they will have to allow you to break the contract.... for nothing! it will probably mean giving back phone, but you will be allowed to walk away....

A few years back I used 3, they used O2's network, then one day I had no coverage and found that they had switched to oranges network, they released me from the contract without a quibble as I had no coverage at home.

Thats very strange as they are using exactly same cells as orange, there just changing all there servers.

o2 and vodaphone often share cells

Agreed. I was with 3 for years then one day simply couldn't get a signal anywhere at home or halfway down the street. They fobbed me off for a few weeks saying they were repairing something, when a friend on Facebook who lives in the Midlands complained of the same problem from the same date!

She got out of 3 that they had changed something with the way they piggybacked other networks to boost a weak signal of their own, basically they weren't paying other networks for the right to do it anymore. We both got out of our contracts (I had only renewed a month earlier) because they could no longer provide the service. I even got to keep my brand new handset!
