Protect your phone pics

We had a hard lesson today when the mr had his iPhone stolen from his job. All our xxx pics were on it (not password protected) & he didn't have the find my phone ap.

thankfully somebody found it a block away & turned it in, intact.

Lesson learnt... Back up, hide & protect your pics.

I left mine in the services @ Weatherby a few months ago. Rang them up and they had found it, and assured me they would lock in it a locker till I got back from Scotland. I was very red faced when I picked it up and had to describe what my screensaver was

I have the option to hide mine, even though I only have to go to the menu and chose to display hidden pics, it's not obvious when you look through pics that there might be any hidden ones, works well if my kids want to play on the phone

Download vaulty app and put them in there.

Also nowadays when you lode your phone if you tell your provider they can block your handset so no one can get in it.

Hide Pictures- Hide it Pro.

Hides them two ways- under an innocuous icon that you need to access a specific way and then you can password lock too.

Well worth it!

I don't keep anything untoward on my phone.

I Upload everything to skydrive and can share directly from there. Saves downloading apps, or remembering anymore passwords.

I've got ps calculator on my iPhone to store my more personal photos, looks like a calculator to anyone who opens it, put the special code and voila!

It's not a good idea to store pics in one of those secret apps. Updates have been known to delete all the content. This happened to me. Fortunately I had loaded them all up to a Dropbox account the day before. Dropbox is great and you can access from any internet connected device.

Oh I wonder if that's what happened to mine!!! I lost the lot, it wouldn't even recognise my password to let me in!!

I use app called keep safe very good to keep pics and vids from prying eyes and you make up.own password.

I use Avast antivirus and theft app its free and you can do some great things with it even track your phone and have full access to it after is has been stolen, thats just a small part of its features. Free on the android market

Cleaned the phone last night. I am not sure if the Good Samaritan got an eyeful or not. She had gotten in the phone and made some calls to locate us. Lol

He did have the home screen locked with "0000" which is the easiest pw ever.

Lesson *is* learnt now.

That's why I chose the hide it pro app for android - it's a kinda compromise - it does 'lock' your pics away, but if the app goes all bananas berzerkoidsz and tells you there are no photos in locked storage - you can still recover them from a linux shell window or similar if you know the hidden file path... Ok so maybe not 100% hidden and secure, but face it - most 10yr old kids could probably hack our phones faster than we can remember our atm pin number lol!! But we can also remote lock our phones anyway so will take the kid a few minutes longer to hack, install custom os and list on eBay for a quick buck!

Oh and if you've got dropbox on your phone, it automatically uploads pics to the cloud and then you tell hide it pro to hide your pics that are on your phone- so there's no reason for updates to eat your data!
