"I purchased a lovely leather steel boned corset and for the life of me I can't put it on alone! I either can't do all the hooks up the front because everytime I snap one in, another pops out and I can't reach the ribbon to tie the back Any advise gratefully received " i also find it impossible and im wearing one this weekend and going to a friends so we can tie each other up (not literally of course) lol good luck though  | |||

I loosen the corset so that I can be certain that I can fasten it in the front without a struggle.
Once fastened in the front, I pull the loops in the middle at the back to tighten the corset.
I then get hold of the top lace and pull it to tighten the top, and then transfer some of the tension down the laces to the middle, and then pull the laces in the middle loops to make them longer.
Repeat the process until the top part is sufficiently tightened.
Repeat the process with the bottom part of the corset, reaching for the bottom lace, pull, then ease the tension up to the middle etc...
It is advisable to under-tension the corset for about 30min or longer to let the body get used to the constrictions prior to final tightening, and I found this advice invaluable.
What I normally do nowadays is to put on the stockings, suspenders and knickers first, then the corset, then put on the make up, then tighten the corset one last time.

Next you need to stand with your back to a mirror so you can look over your shoulder and see the back of the corset. Get hold of the loops in the middle and pull tight until you can hold them in front of yourself with one hand. Then starting at either the top or bottom but one, hook a finger in where the ribbon crosses and pull tight and work your way to the middle, you'll then be able to take the slack up at the front. You may have to do this several times. There are tutorials of this method on YouTube, a picture says a thousand words, so they say 
Never sleep with a corset on, apparently... Not good for your internal organs.
Have fun as it takes a bit of practice.
The bow I have to do by feel, once you have the bow tied try and put your fingers through the loop of the bow and the loop of the ends of the ribbon so they all end up an equal length.

It's the long mid corset lacing lengths that make putting on your own a possibility"  this! I recommend the same instructions to everyone I know who has ever said they can't reach to fasten at the back. It might mean going to the market and purchasing a very long piece of ribbon to replace the one that came with it or the cord or whatever it is. My fashion corsets always come with a fairly short ribbon and laced to the bottom but my one decent steel boned one came laced to the middle with cord and lots of it. | |||

"Nevermind sleep in one, having sex in one is not that comfortable either. However, without mine, I resemble a beached whale, not a good look! "Sitting down can be uncomfortable too, I drove in one for the first time a while back and thought I was going to pass out 
Got my first one from westward bound and it's still my favourite as it doesn't stick out so much at the top and bottom edges. | |||

Look up the video on YouTube as when I first had mine I thought it would have been impossible to get into alone, it's not as long as you can look over your shoulder into a mirror and hook your fingers into the laces it is doable. | |||

"I did not have anyone to help me, and had to lace up on my own, and managed. It does get easier with practice. Nowadays, I don't need to use a mirror in order to locate the top and bottom laces or the middle loops. "Same here. I just reach around and feel my way.  | |||

Just had a look through YouTube and most of the girls on there are doing it by feel, I find the top half is the hardest as the loose lace drops over the next place you want to tighten and you sometimes pull it through the loose loop, the bottom half it naturally hangs below the next part to be tightened. | |||

" Seriously, it takes a fair bit of yanking on the part of someone else to fully tighten mine. There's no way I could pull hard enough myself even using a hook to pull each individual lacing cross. If I had a corset that reduced my waist less I could probably manage. | |||

"It would appear that even if I manage to get it on I'm not going to be able to sit down in it, have sex or sleep in it "You'll be able to perch your bum on things as long as they aren't too low. Sitting down is often not possible. I've had sex in mine with no real problems. It does limit positions a bit though. | |||
