"There there (pats head)"

grrrrrrrr

oh the reason why im miffed was that i was parked on double yellows (yes i was naughty and in the wrong.. i openly own up to that) for about 3 mins as i dashed in to pick up a prescription that was already made up and ready for me

Returned to my car to be asked by the traffic warden not to drive off as he'd started to write the ticket.. he then slammed it on my driver door and walked off.

HE WALKED OFF WITHOUT TICKETING THE TWO CARS PARKED IN FRONT OF ME THAT WERE THERE BEFORE I WAS!!! - that was the bit that made me mad..

It's annoying I know, but you know the law! Those laws are there to protect people from danger. Parking on double yellows is risky as they are usually danger points.

Maybe it will stop you from doing I again!

I know its annoying though! I understand.

Down here, the wardens don't do anything unless its in Chester itself. But its annoying also because people park in the most selfish, awkward places.

the entire town is pretty much double yellows, honestly i dont think it was dangerous that i was parked there for 2 mins, i wasnt obstructing anything and the road is very wide.

i know legally i was in the wrong though and ive already paid the fine. Drove 30mins to the council place to pay it.

Bloody annoying when that happens. I once got a fine for parking without getting a ticket because I was foolish enough to be believe that the traffic wardens in Nottingham had a Union and wouldn't be working after 19.00 on a Saturday night.

One of them was. The git.

No sympathy at all. You can't park on double yellows and then cry about it when you rightly get a ticket. As for the other two cars, how do you know with all certainty that he didn't ticket them or that they didn't have blue badges. In any event its not really any of your business.

Double yellow lines are there for many reasons, including making sure there is enough space for a fire engine to get past. To park on them and then moan about a parking ticket is akin to picking up a baking tray straight out of the oven and complaining about a burned hand!

I guess the moral of the story is park in a car park and walk to the pharmacy in future.

ive already said i didnt check for blue badges, but i know they werent ticked as it was a 2 min dash into a chemist to pick up a prescription then out again.. i didnt have to wait as there was no queue.

he then asked me not to drive off as he had started to write the ticket so i waited. i noticed on the ticket having litterally just checked the receipt that he claims to have observed my car for 5mins.. that truly must have been bollocks as it was park, dash across the road, in and out.. not in a million years was i there for 5 mins.

Nope I would have still made my comment about legality of parking and parking somewhere legal and walking to the pharmacy. The only exceptions on double yellow lines are emergency services and disabled drivers.

To be fair.

I do park in disabled spaces in Tesco's and Sainsburys but only because in my one there are fuckloads of them.

But double yellows I don't. It's too easy to get done.

Ok yes parking on double yellows was wrong but next time (which I'm guessing there won't now) check the other cars and if they haven't been ticketed like yours and they don't have blue badges, then take pictures to show you was singled out and make a complaint.

Sorry but that's an appalling attitude. Disabled badges are given to those who need them, not for abled bodied people.

I dont park on double yellows...

Although I once got back to a space I had paid for using the meter about 10 mins late...

The traffic warden was there and had started a ticket..

I got in the car and drove off. Apparently you're not obliged to pay it if it's not on your vehicle... Never heard any more about it.

No bloody chance would I have "waited while he finished the ticket"

But unfortunately they are not enforceable on private property (or so I believe. It may have changed since I advised on it)

Ill also admit that if it's late at night, say after 10pm I'll sometime park in disabled spaces as the likely hood of 40 disabled people rocking up to tescos at that time of night are fairly slim however during main shopping hours I won't.

Again this might have changed but I think that they now take time stamped pictures of your car making the infringement so if your car is still there at the time of the ticket being issued and you drive off before it is placed on your car they can still chase the fine through the dvla.

I have parked on double yellows for the amount of time it has taken to run into a shop( yeah shoot me) and got a right old lecture from a traffic warden, I told him I would rather have the ticket

I don't normally go there till 10oclock at night.

And there are like 100 spaces.

Have seen a traffic warden making special runs to ticket a car which was left parked on a street in central Oxford. He was clearly not on shift as was in mufti and turned up on a Sunday on his moped, put another ticket on the car then zoomed off back to his Sunday!

agree Ruby, coz then there are none left for me and I need the space to open my drivers door wide, get my wheelchair out of the boot and I cant do this in normal parking spots.

As a blue badge holder I wont park on double yellows, but do on single yellows.

Bro Ruby raised a valid point..(see it ain't just the op that got it I did too so that puts that to bed)

...she raised a valid fucking point but I just wanted to add clarity to what I was saying.

It was the tone of the posts. The tone (and subject emphasis) changed further down. I didn't mean people were picking on the OP, I just meant if it had been someone else posting -depending on who it was- the emphasis would have been different. As it was in later posts. That's all.
