Always make sure to use too many potato flakes, add a little milk in place of water and some salt, mustard powder and butter before you mix it up. Or you can add a little mayo instead. Just make sure the smash is stiff rather than sloppy

Yes to Mr. Mash with butter, spring onion, salt and pepper. It is one of my staple starch when I go camping in the colder months.
