Way over Yonder, that's where I'm bound

Canapes are deadly - too yummy and each as many calories as eating a meal (ok, a slight exaggeration).

Simple ones like pumpernickel with cream cheese and smoked salmon are good.

Nothing beats a cheese and pineapple Sputnik.

Avocado and crab works well too. Not on a Sputnik.

OMG, this takes me back to family parties when I was a socially awkward youngster.

As mentioned a few times, salmon, always nice with some red/yellow pepper or chives in the mix.

I went to a party where they served cocktail sausages cut down the middle length ways and mashed potato piped in, bit fiddly I dare say to make but everyone spoke about them.

The posh, mannered and house-trained me is wracking my brain to come up with flashy suggestions....

....the real inner me sez cheese'n'pineapple(tinned) hedgehog with a side of silverskin pickled onions. And maybe some mini Tuc crackers. Ooh! And maybe some ready salted crisps! Ooh! Ooh! And some primula....

Sheffield

Celery with cream cheese or peanut butter piped in the middle.

Dates with cream cheese piped in the cavity with a walnut half stuck on.

and if you feel like baking try gougeres. Surprisingly easy to make, very tasty and makes a big batch from one recipe.

I like both of those but I saw a twist last week at an event when the beef was carpaccio. It was lovely.

I'd go for one or 2 awesome canapés rather than lots of them. Plus, people need to be able to eat them whilst holding a drink

I'd go for blini's (think that's what they are called) and caviar
