Hi Folks

We are about to move in to a new house. It has brand new aluminium framed patio doors, that are 'wood effect'. We hate them, but think its pointless replacing them.

The question is, can they be painted? I am assuming you would need a speciality paint.

Serious answers gratefully received.

Any water based paint will cause corrosion so avoid these. Any other paint will be fine. Gloss is ok. No need to spend on expensive metal paint

Be careful if you're painting over the "wood effect" - you may need an acrylic paint.

If it's wood grain it will have plastic (PVC) coating on it. You'd need a primer to key to that first.
