How do you intend to pay for the strict law enforcement with low taxation?

(See again: low taxation)

Anyone with a genuine answer to this should forward it to David Cameron.

Reverse the privation of what Thatcher did during the 80's. Also remove the culture of greed which all some people think about.

Don't tax the poor for the mistakes of the banks. Demand, after 3 glass of wine that however nice that meal was, you can't forget that Vodaphone still owe 8Billion in unpaid taxes.

Ohh and refuse to deal with the Rothchilds when it comes to government borrowing. Time to cut them 250 odd year old puppet strings.

"The man who controls Britain's money supply controls the British Empire, and I control the British money supply"

Rothschilds, Nathan

If I'm making a new country then it's not using the UK. It's one that's uninhabited and a little warmer. Like the island in Lost without the weird stuff.

Everyone works. Even if it's just gathering food.

Any crime committed will be brought before the people of the island to decide the punishment. Except murder or rape. Death penalty for those.

No religion allowed.

All power comes from wave, wind, solar power.

People will be taught to hunt, use first aid, make fire, survive on their own from an early age.

A massive fence will be around the island to protect the inhabitants. Not keep them in.

Everyones birthday will be celebrated by everyone on the island. That way everyone gets to know each other.

All I can think of now.

You pay for your own private pension. Never trust a government about that.

You can still fund education with low taxation. Singapore is a great example.

Possibly, but you can't fund everything with low taxation.

Something has to give.

That's quite a good one, Granny.

(Apologies for the delay. I've only just had time to Google Logan's Run and pretend I knew what it was all along!).

Singapore is a great example of what is possible when you have a small, well-located city state that only has to skim a small proportion of the international finance and trade revenues that flow through it to survive. It isn't really a good reference point for much else though.

Someone has to design and manufacture the robots, and the solar power cells, and the regeneration technology. The talent will want paying, the investors will want a return on capital and the government is the only customer in the market.

Nandos aside, however you look at it, somebody will want paying handsomely by a government that doesn't raise a lot in tax revenues; otherwise they just won't bother.

Agreed.

The high quality services/ low taxation argument usually centres on personal taxation.

A very modest transaction tax on UK financial services would make an enormous difference to British public services.
