"How do you intend to pay for the strict law enforcement with low taxation?" Anyone with a genuine answer to this should forward it to David Cameron.

"No freebies. Pension system? Education system? How would these work? (See again: low taxation) " You pay for your own private pension. Never trust a government about that. You can still fund education with low taxation. Singapore is a great example.

That's quite a good one, Granny. (Apologies for the delay. I've only just had time to Google Logan's Run and pretend I knew what it was all along!).

Singapore is a great example of what is possible when you have a small, well-located city state that only has to skim a small proportion of the international finance and trade revenues that flow through it to survive. It isn't really a good reference point for much else though.

Someone has to design and manufacture the robots, and the solar power cells, and the regeneration technology. The talent will want paying, the investors will want a return on capital and the government is the only customer in the market. Nandos aside, however you look at it, somebody will want paying handsomely by a government that doesn't raise a lot in tax revenues; otherwise they just won't bother.

A very modest transaction tax on UK financial services would make an enormous difference to British public services.
