Buying a bed

Somewhere in North Norfolk

I need a new one. Mine is 12 years old and suffering from too many house moves. I want a king size divan with 4 storage drawers and a mattress.

I want a decent one but I don't have thousands to spend.

Gimme your best advice on brands to look at and good places to buy from please.

we got a decent one that matches your description from a local supplier. only cost 500.

bed shopping is always fun, gotta try them all out!!

My advice would be to buy the best bed you can afford. The same goes for shoes, because if you're not in one of them, chances are you'll be in the other

Ah, but how to choose the best bed? Some are over-priced junk so price isn't necessarily an indicator.

****** **** have a list under the counter- and other majors will too, I'm sure- of discounted lines etc and even those prices can be haggled down. Set yourself a price before you go in, pick a quiet shop and go haggle! Is fun if you are in the right frame of mind to walk back out if there isn't a deal to be done.

personally, I'd rule out any without legs- makes anchor points so much more difficult to find.......

I hate buying beds. It's so hard to choose unless you've slept on it a week. I don't find shops that accommodating.

There was a thread on this a while back.. I have a weymouth mattress from dreams.. on an ottomen base.. actually a bit heavy for the base..Its very deep so needs deep fitted sheet or ordinary flat sheets.

I would advise a divan or slat with support in centre. better to pay more especially if alot of bouncing around goes on.

I love it very comfortable bed.

We bought a new one recently - went to one of the out of town places. It is well worth waiting for a sale - we got it half price with another 10% off as well.

I don't know if you can mention brands here so I won't but we are very happy with ours. Our trick is everytime we stay in a hotel that has a comfy bed with have a look at the mattress brand

We bought the brand that was the one that came up the most often as a good nights sleep and it was a good choice.

From the post above it is seems it is OK to mention brands so - Sealy was the one we went for. Loads of hotels use them and they always seem good
