At what age did you fly the nest and did you make the right decision to move out at that time in your life?

What age do you expect people to start thinking about moving out or even doing it?

At what point/age does it get embarrassing/awkward of living at home with parents or shouldn't it make you feel like that ever?

I moved from parents to grans at 17

Grans to gf then wife at 27

Wife to being alone at 38 (a yr ago)

Moved out at 16 yes was the right thing to do always been very close to my mum, but moved in with my partner and we are still together, I however am sadly not in love with him anymore after 25 yrs but we've been through a lot and I'm gutless and don't want to hurt him or the kids which will happen if he finds out I'm on here, need to man up like I did at 16 and move out at 42 I'm not proud of being gutless, but hope my kids stay home longer than I did

I bought my first flat and moved out at 18...

Moved back to the parents for 3 weeks when selling and buying a new place... 10 years ago.

I think I moved out at the right time..

Couldn't imagine living with the parents long term as an adult.

I had my own place at 16 but that was the courts decision after 2 years in juvenile phychiatric care. They didn't feel my mother would be able to cope with me.

I'd say it was the best decision as its made me independent.

I'm currently back at my mums looking after her after going through major surgery for chromes disease but it feels weird being back.

I moved out on my 15th birthday due to allways arguing with all my siblings and parents it was the best time to move out now 14 years later I only talk to my dad and 1 sister out of 7 and she moved out at 15 and emigrated at 19 to Australia and also dont talk to any of the family

Moved in with my grandparents at 17

Then moved out into a winter let on my own aged 19 but was too expensive so went back

Moved out on my own aged 21

I moved out at 17 as my lovely mother's boyfriend was a horrid man, it was the right decision and made me grow up very quickly, unfortunately my mum is still with the horrid one

I moved out at 16 when I got my first job, I loved only having me to answer for and my mum did my washing weekly lol

Moved out at 18 to live with my then boyfriend and have never moved back, not sure it was actually the right decision as I then failed my Alevels because I was too busy playing house, but it's shaped who Iam today so perhaps it was the right path for me

I left home at 29, my parents split up when I was 22 and I stayed to look after my mum both financally and with her disabilities.

I hoped to be in my own place by the time I was 25, but due to only getting crap jobs i could never afford it.

I think I made the right choice to move out when I did as I moved in with a fantastic woman.

Moved out at 20

Bought a 3 bed house for £26000

Now worth £111000 which has enabled me to purchase a second property

Right decision ? I think so !

Moved out at 18 but went home at 222 for two years. My sister left at 16 and my son left at 16. He came back for three months this year as a stop gap, but it was really strange. He didnt hang around for long lol

Brighton - even Hove!

Moved out at 18 to Uni went back for a few weeks after then moved to Brighton. Been here ever since.

Theres also a lot more people moving back home now, either to look after aging parents or after a divorce or financial reasons. I think more people cant afford to live on their own. More seem to house share these days

I cant remember but i reckon more kids will stay home longer now due to cost of living rents and mortgages etc.

My kids moved out when nineteen and 21 eldest moved back after divorce jeeze that was hard going

I guess I Kind of technically live at home although I have my own flat. It works well.

I left my mum's at 16 to go live with my dad then went to uni but only lasted 1 and a half years. Before moving back to my dad's. I'm a bit of a home bunny I guess.

9 grand a year at Uni

House prices and deposits needed to even buy one

Car insurance prices

Lack of jobs for young people

And total lack of empathy towards them by many of older generation

Left home at 24 moved into flat on my own had great times in my bachelor pad moved ex in when i was 27 married at 28 made redundant at 29 gave me deposit to buy house the next year dad at 33 divorced at 36 kept house and paid ex money to leave

47 and living on my own have daughter every weekend not how i planned it

I was 18 when I left home, was a pretty unhappy/mixed up teenager and had a very turbulent relationship with my mother so I thought moving to London would be my panacea. Moving to the big smoke was something i'd dreamt of doing since I was 10. It was a bit of a let down, dirty, lots of drug addicts/d*unks hanging around halls, lots of "toffs" at this particular Uni with completely different upbringings/_iews/experiences. I was the only "northerner" in our block and found it hard to settle as I had no shared experiences. I'd never been to private school, my mum and dad lived in a 3 bed semi, often struggling a bit for money, we went camping on holidays, we didn't have a holiday home and my dad didn't deal in stocks and shares. Then I realised it didn't matter and I did settle in the end and had the time of my life.

Then 3 years later I graduated and had to move back as their were no jobs! I lasted 10 days and I've not stayed at my parents now since 2006.

I think with rents/mortgages/food/petrol at such high levels and incomes often deflating in real terms it's really hard to rent and save so I think lots of young people are forced to stay at home. It's a sign of the times...
