A nurse at a Midlands care home left a dementia suffering amputee on the floor for 15 minutes while she went for a cigarette. She also told other staff to leave him there "to teach him a lesson".She has now been struck off. What punishment do you think she should have got?

Why? Considering some of your previous posts that is worrying

I would be asking what has happened to those on shift with her. And asking questions of the management.

Funny isn't it...

If an unqualified person did that to someone in their care they would be prosecuted but as it was done by a "professional" then its enough for their professional body to take action. After all where would we be if everyone was subject to the law?

I worry because I fail to see why you would need to know what they look like.

we should be thankful that some other member of staff probably had the courage to report her otherwise it may have gone unpunished.

Actually they almost certainly wouldn't be prosecuted.

Titz Towers, North Notts

It would be nice if the vulnerable received dignified treatment and good care.

I work in that profession and always ask myself would I be satisfied if I were in the position of the service user. If I wouldn't, then I try to do something about it.

heres my story , I was caring for granny crumpet one nite, in her 80's but still pretty hot...it was a nitemare of a shift and I was dying for a fag.Unlike the other staff that couldnt stand her, I took her along with me on my fag break.Much to my surprise she starting pouting at me, and then took out her teeth and..

oops, wrong section, wheres the stories n fantasies section?

You took out her teeth and discovered she had been breaking them in for a great white....

The teeth nipped your teeny penis and you squealed like a hog breastfeeding a croc.

Granny nicked all your cigs and cut them in half. Then she gave everyone on the ward a sloppy, gummy b.j.

She should be struck off as it sounds as though she has been. Do I thing she should have more? Well its hard to justify it as its neglect on her part and she hasn't by the sounds of it hit him. In reality its really hard to say this and that on a shock thread that has so little information on the case and making a snap judgement is not really that cleaver.

Brighton - even Hove!

I'd lie to hear more about Keen and Granny. Especially the tone, pitch, duration and range of notes from his piggy squeals.

As for the nurse, she's been struck off so hopefully won't be able to do it again.

Ok don't condone this a bit harsh...

But. We don't know the history. Just because someone is an amputee does not make them a nice person. For all we know its a smackhead who lost a leg through injection.

The worker possibly endured days weeks or months of verbal abuse and disruption from the patient. She maybe snapped and thought I need a cig to calm down before I hurt this person back. The fact she did it to 'teach a lesson' maybe speaks volumes.

Ok not the right procedure but spare a thought for those dealing with difficult people day in day out

Why are smackheads not nice people and in your opinion not deserving of care?

I think she should be made to lick the sluce room floor clean once a week & for it to be screened live in one of the Fab chat rooms - for some of our kinkier patients!
