Deisel pumps don't fit in unleaded cars!!!

Had a senior moment that could have been a disaster!!!

Has anyone else put the wrong fuel in their car? Or am I alone in my stupidity?

I put 5 gallons in by mistake, didn't cause a problem, it was a rented car, and ran ok

Near Edinburgh..

My Old Mother put about 60 quid of unleaded into her diesel the other week.. - luckily she noticed before she had just stopped filling it up and never started it up etc..

- The Bill was £60 quid for the Fuel and £298 for recovery and cleaning of fuel tank and disposal of contaminated fuel etc..

Then back to the garage for 80 quids worth of diesel..

Total = £438..

You have an excuse, i can see how you could make the mistake when you are driving both, but I've had this car for 6 months!!!

Whoa that's insane. I'm sorry but I think they were ripped off.

When my mate done it, I just towed him back, siphoned the tank into a drum, stuck 30 quid of diesel in the tank and bled the injectors. 30 quid of diesel and he was off. Plus the petrol, but nevermind.

Still though, some modern cars won't like it. The diesel fuel actually helps to cool the pump as it's an oil and contaminated I've heard of them overheat.

So really, don't turn the key.
