School Photographs

I remember that dreaded day - lining up infront of all of your class mates to sit on a suitcase with a background of a library, knee's together but so your bodys twisted at an angle.. the big flashy lights and hugeeeeee umberella's. Trying to master that all important natural sweet smile without looking goofy. Dreading the day the proofs come through to find spending days in the mirror practicing had failed and that your goofy face would be seen by every single person who entered the house and every single relative who my parents decided to buy photo's for as they are SO PROUD to show them off.. urgghhh

Well how the times have changed.. its now 6 pictures holding flowers, balls, waving brightly coloured fabrics, sitting on boxes or jumping on a trampoline etc..

What were your experiences of 'School Photo' day?

I know my daughters nearly 4 and these were done to show the fun side and innocence of youth, but i had a ganders at the photographers website and they do the secondary school photo's in the same way! The results are far better i think, also they edit them in various funky ways

The latest we had with our daughter (16) was the last in her uniform before moving into sixth form so I was looking forward to it. But they airbrushed it and made her have rosy cheeks. It didn't look like her at all so I didn't buy it.

Downside to tweeking digital.. some people think they are making improvements when they subtract from what/who the person is

They really asked you to do that? Surely your specs are not only essential so you can see, but make you, YOU..

Regularly. Which as I've been wearing them since before I started school really chipped away at my confidence. I don't have confidence or esteem issues now but it took a long time - it's only been in the last few years that I began to wear my glasses instead of contacts for nights out.

I used to fake my eye exams cos i really wanted to wear glasses, was envious of school friends who needed them.

Now i just buy frames with clear glass.
