Pulp were streets ahead of either of them. As were the Auteurs.

Blur were musically far superior to oasis and this has been confirmed by their post split output.

Incredible? You must set your sights low. Their first 2 albums are ok but I bet most people can name very little after that

Any better front men than Liam in last 20 years? Any better band in last 20 years than oasis? All about opinions I guess I wouldn't call my self a fan but the amount of songs they have done that I didn't realise was them is impressive. Like the theme tune to royal family for instance.

I agree with a lot of these... but Freddie has been dead for over 20 years.

Oasis had 2 very good albums, with some great tracks. Champagne Supernova has conjures up great images for me. But mostly their stuff is very samey and is not original at all.

Yes but teeny bopper bands will always appeal to the mass market. It's music you don't have to think about and mummy won't mind you spending your pocket money on it. Hence why take that and one direction are so popular.

Why should you have to think about music? Why can't you just like a track because it makes you feel good or makes you want to get up and dance? Or even because it makes you sad?

Why is it so important that someone has to write their own songs or be able to play an instrument? Why does a song have to have a deep meaningful lyric?

Pop, rock, hip hop, classical, opera, show tunes whatever you like, you like. Music snobs *pftt*

Pop music isn't that entertaining, not like when a veteran musician can wow an audience without having a meltdown everytime their sales droop. Showmanship is rarer than you might think.

To you pop music isn't entertaining, many millions will disagree.

Those veteran musicians? Of course they're not bothered about sales. They just go on tours for the sake of it. Nowt to do with promoting albums and all the other peripherals sold at concerts

Are you serious ? One direction just another manufactured band from an era of Simon Cowell

Oasis self made through raw talent

Bet if you put both on stage without any dancers and other gizmos and lighting

And just the bands with instruments

You would see just how shit one direction really are

Put them both on a stage and see who sells the most tickets.

I'm not saying one is better than the other but if people enjoy one direction what's the problem. It's only pop music after all.

I can't stand either of them but I wouldn't be that arrogant as to tell people what they should be listening to.

If Steeleye Span reformed with Maddy Prior I'd be at the front of the queue for tickets, although I don't think the queue would be that long , but I would like to think I wouldn't be ridiculed for my taste in music.
