Way over Yonder, that's where I'm bound

I haven't been to a party but I have been invited out for drinks by various friends to mark their divorce.

Nope but last Saturday would have been my wedding anniversary. I sent the ex a text that said "Happy whatever". Strangely she didn't answer....

I was very sad when I got my decree absolute. I didn't see it as something to celibrate and my daughters would have thought it tacky and inappropriate especially as it affected their lives too.

ok i can see why you'd think it was strange.. he got married very young and there was no rush for either of them to get divorced so just left it.

both are now in long term relationships and now feel its the right thing to do in order to progress with lives.

my mums engaged to her partner (just a verbal commitment i guess) despite being married still. 7yrs on she's still trying to get divorced.

i dont believe he is celebrating in the sense of 'yeah got rid of her at last, but a celebration that he can now legally marry the woman he truly loves'

I'd be willing to hold a divorce party.

Anyone who doesn,t mind sitting on orange boxes, sleeping on the floor, eating crumbs and drinking tap water is more than welcome to come.

I can understand why some people do... I am about to get my Decree Absolute and allow I will be ecstatic when it comes through, I would not hold a party.

Now if I could invite my ex to a firing squad, I would do that!

I'd love one!!! Can't afford the divorce though. Tbh its just a bit if paper. I've no plans to ever remarry and the money would be better spent elsewhere, ie the children.

He gets engaged to every gf he has but makes no move to start a divorce
