Can you fall in love with somebody....

I used to use another site to chat but also the laughs that were to be had on there, I popped on tonight and noticed the same dramas unfolding.

Mainly involving people who had never met claiming undying love for a person they enjoy chatting to. I found myself wondering.... Can you fall in love with or develop feelings someone you haven't met before?

i think that strong emotions can develop from regular online contact but there is no way of knowing if it will transfer to the real thing when/if you meet.

I think you can, if there is a connection there, with modern technology you can chat on the phone, skype etc but you will not know it is real the feeling are until you meet in person (just dont plan the wedding until you do meet lol)

Yes you can develop feelings, but I think for it to become love there has to be physical interaction. You can only think you are in love with some you haven't met.

You can grow an emotional attachment over time and it's solidified also by the fact that you have to do fuck all for them and they're more in the positive side of your imagination than the realistic side.

My partner and I had never met in person..never seen each other on cam..saw a couple of photos..spoke on the phone a few times and instantly fell in love. He moved down from Scotland and 3 years later our love is just as strong. We work together, live together and are best friends.

yes, i met my ex online and developed feelings for him and he for me, we had 7 good years and 2 gorgeous children together before we split but the feelings carried through to meeting straight away, with Phil i met him online and cared for him as a friend we used to meet up for coffee and necking sessions and i started to care a lot more for him, not sure how it worked for him though because i never asked lol

I know at least 3 couples that met on the internet. One relationship lasted 10 years, the other 2 couples are still going strong 14 years on. It can happen.

Funny thing was he was one of my 1000 odd friends on FB. Had never spoken just played games.. he saw my..at the time..single female profile photo pop up on Fab newest photos lol. He found my fb profile and sent a funny message.

got half way there online, and when we meet in person for the first time it was all the way.

shame it did not last really, still miss her sometimes.

its one of the reasons i am on fab, do not need that pain again for a while.

I think love is the wrong word ... a great respect for each other and a solid companionship is probably closer to anything I have experienced. there are a few guys I talk with regularly and I look forward to hearing from them as our banter is slightly askew but we all get it .. but love ... no ... I don't think that is possible !

Agree, ou may lust someone or like them online, but how can you feel love for someone you've never had a chat with and shared a cheeky grin, or heard them laugh for real without just an LOL written...you can try to get feelings online but you need a meet or those feelings to become reality

meeting on the internet is different to falling head over heels with someone before even meeting them or never meeting them ever though.

I am in love now but it took time together for that to develop from passion and lust.

I think I can normally tell who I will or wont get on with from messages .. had a really disappointing experience when I agreed to meet a single guy off here when my guy was at work .. all was going great until I pointed out that my fella would be joining us in about 15 minutes and was looking forward to meeting the guy .. he nearly fell off his chair as he had assumed I hadn't told my fella I was meeting him and left ... shame really !!

American tv show where people contact this guy and say something like 'I've been talking to this guy for two years over the net, we have never met, I have seen 3 pics of him, he looks like a model and I love him but he won't meet.' Then they meet and he's so fat guy or some fucked up bird....lol

Yes you can but you have most likely built up a persona for this person and that is what you have fallen for.

Unless you are lucky, most times the ideals you have put to the persona fall woefully short when you do meet for real.

Catfish is the craziest show ever...I still don't understand how half the people really fall for that, but I can understand the attachment they say the develop talking or texting someone daily and them feeling like it develops into more.

I think you can get more than half way there online if you really connect and enjoy each others company but you never really KNOW that it's love until you meet them...kiss them... talk and laugh and cry with them... kiss them again... make love with them and know then that you never ever want your life to be without them.........

You can develop a friendship from just chatting, but then you can get feelings when you regularly meet that person. I know from experience

Good morning and yes I do believe you can, I haven't "fallen in love" but have developed feelings for someone after exchanging emails for a while (as did the other person) and when we met the feelings had been justified, I think you can get a lot from someones message and email if they put themselves into them as opposed to just one sentence answers as that doesn't give you a feel for the person.
