It's the traditional "breaded" American fried chicken style that KFC has destroyed. Southern Fried Chicken is close but uses too much spice and flavouring.

I use basil, marjoram, sage, black pepper, paprika, a tiny bit of onion and garlic powder, salt and brown sugar, then I mix flour with some freshly toasted breadcrumbs.

Americans took the basic recipe from the German food Wiener Schnitzel which is breaded fried pork steak.

Which is why they call their version Chicken Fried Steak
