not taken from anything in particular, just a question.

imagine a scenario where this would be a dilemma for you.

would you sacrifice the life (as in actually kill) an immediate loved one (parent/partner/child) if it would save the lives of 100 random people?

As another mentioned , people die everyday , faces you never knew or will know but if this question was say about changing a moment in Human history say ww2 , civil war conflicts ,then I'd have to reconsider ....

No number of people would cause me to take the life of my child I'd rather kill a thousand people to keep them safe

Thats 2 seperate things

Sacrifice by action or in action allow another to die

Kill deliberately and directly take the life of

Sacrifice one to save many? Yes

Kill one to save many? No

The needs of the many, outweigh the needs of the few, or the one

And before anyone says thats Star Trek, its a jewish proverb from the Tora, Trek nicked it.

In response to the main subject , no I wouldn't kill my child/ family member for 1000 strangers but like I mentioned if it was preventing a more substantial tragic event like preventing WW2 from happening ( 56 million lives lost ) ....anyone who has a conscience would reconsider their choices mentioned so far ...end of !!! All these no no answers and no number would make me do it ....are just utter nonsense ( no offence intended) , everyone's entitled to their own opinion ....so let the wrath reply comments begin

My child is a teenager and no I wouldn't as she comes before everyone for me, however, if this was 10 years down the line and she had children and they were part of the hundreds that could change?

That isn't a moral dilemma, particularly for any parents if a child is involved. The answers speak for themselves.
