The land of grey peas and bacon

Has she tried to open up in safe mode then restore it to a date where it did not have the virus on there.

As soon as you turn it on tap F8 repeatedly on the keyboard. Another screen should come up continue to tap the F8 button until you see 'repair computer' option Once you have selected that option there should be 5 options on screen. Select the option 'system response.' You can then select a time the last time you downloaded something on the computer. Select a time when you didn't have the virus and hey presto it should be gone.

I hope I have made myself clear lol

Doing a system restore will not get rid of the virus, it will simply return the PC back to an earlier state without removing any files etc. The virus will remain onboard.

As previous poster said get to boot option screen and go to safe mode and scan with anti virus.

Depending the the ferocity of the virus it may of infected your registry as well so make sure you use a decent anti virus and try and back up as much of your personal files as possible.

If all else fails last resort is a complete clean install of your operating system ( formatting the hard drive in process )

Hope that helps and feel free to message me if you need any other help

"Well it got rid of the virus I had..... "

It will work with some of the lesser ones ( trojans , worms and malware )

But as the OP's one is coming up as soon as she turns on it sounds pretty bad so probably deeply embedded

Me before i do a restore i do this. F8 into safe mode with network. Download and install this. Then let it up date and runa full scan.

Just an update I had a similar virus, malwarebytes stopped it for a while but it came back, turns out it weas bedded into the root registry and malwarebytes doesn't scan the root registry! So I downloaded anvisoft and it scans the root registry again it is free and it got rid of my virus! Good luck! I am no IT expert but have worked in the industry, I was lucky enough to have people at my disposal to ask the right questions
