" Lowest I've seen, Diesel £1.35 Petrol £1.28 " Same as in Brighton, maybe varies a penny here and there. Interestingly, fuel demand is very price sensitive whereas other consumables are not.

"Ben, was this supermarket or proper garage prices?..." FFS! Don't encourage him! The thread was boring enough as it was. But I had to contribute.

"Ben, was this supermarket or proper garage prices?..." It was a petrol station, but they seem to be matching the supermarkets that surround them

"The sooner it hits £3 a litre the sooner we will start to value the planet and what we have." When it hits £3 the country will grind to a halt. The planet is just fine, drive it like you stole it...

Plus the shelves in supermarkets would be empty.

"I raised the following with my mp as i feel folk are being conned more than they know. For example leys say a petrol station has on forecourt 50 gallons and charge 1.20 per litre then same day as happens price goes up. How can it be allowed to happen as theu already have stock on forecourt. My mp said and i quote we do not interfere in the market to which i replied yes you do by the help to buy scheme on place. He said its different. How the fuck is it different snd tsntamounts to nothing more than racketeering on back of folk struggling to survive." I used to be in the merchant navy, imagine a ship leaving the Middle East where it has just topped up with 330000 barrels of oil. If the price goes up they love it. Just a penny a litre will give them over £300000 pure profit on that one cargo. When you get a very rare drop in price that takes an age to filter through if it ever does. There are 159 litres in a barrel of oil approx 1/2 will be refined into petrol.

Fuel, like fags, doesn't seem to be price sensitive - at least not enough to make a difference.

"The sooner it hits £3 a litre the sooner we will start to value the planet and what we have. That's a bit delusional... and would totally cripple quality of life" It would enhance life, more time spent at home, more time for the family, better food choices, more time to do what is important, rather than being a slave to earning money to pay for fuel, it would start to break the cycle of need and greed.

You could do that without a huge hike in fuel prices. A big bit of thought and a lot of families could probably make a big reduction in their petrol/ diesel usage. Sometimes the 'I NEED to go there.....' turns out to be 'I CHOOSE to go there......'.
