I've given up thinking about how much diesel costs, I know I have to pay it. Public transport is just as expensive so now I only drive when I have to and walk or cycle short distances

I run my petrol car on LPG at 69.9p a litre and my diesel on Veg oil which averages out at about 72p a litre.......... im tight

When we had a diesel 4x4 we used to run it on 50% diesel and 50% veg oil from Netto.

We noticed the buggers soon caught on with the veg oil and started raising the price as the diesel went up.

Same as in Brighton, maybe varies a penny here and there. Interestingly, fuel demand is very price sensitive whereas other consumables are not.

A couple of weeks ago one side of town was 1.33/4 the other 1.39 .

at the moment its 1.31 and 1.28 at asda. blighters bp pop it up and down daily ..

I raised the following with my mp as i feel folk are being conned more than they know.

For example leys say a petrol station has on forecourt 50 gallons and charge 1.20 per litre then same day as happens price goes up. How can it be allowed to happen as theu already have stock on forecourt.

My mp said and i quote we do not interfere in the market to which i replied yes you do by the help to buy scheme on place.

He said its different. How the fuck is it different snd tsntamounts to nothing more than racketeering on back of folk struggling to survive.

That was a Texaco garage Steve near Tesco's, who were a penny more on both.

petrolprices.com is a great site for checking local prices..... I use it to see on my way to work where I can get the cheapest stuff...

here it is roughly 130p/petrol... 136p/diesel across the board

When i was still living on my island we expected to pay 15p a litre more than on the mainland.....so diesel still seems really cheap to me here in england

I'll play devils advocate. The price of the actual fuel is actually pretty low, the tax is the killer, garages need to be able to make a profit in order to stay open and pay their staff.

It's not going to get much better until people stand together and call for changes (and let's not get political, throwing blame as its pretty much a worldwide problem now).

the supermarket have dropped their prices again....

asda have said no one will pay more than 126.7p per litre for petrol, and 133.7p per litre for diesel... and the other supermarkets have followed, sainsbury cut by 3p, tesco's and morrisons by 2p....

get while you can!!!!

My car always gets £20 put in it, as it rarely gets used.

Mrs JFL's car always gets filled to the brim, which if it's nearly on empty, costs the best part of £100 now...thank fuck we don't have to pay for it!

If it's not empty, I always like to put £69.69 in, so she gets embarrassed at the till

I used to be in the merchant navy, imagine a ship leaving the Middle East where it has just topped up with 330000 barrels of oil. If the price goes up they love it. Just a penny a litre will give them over £300000 pure profit on that one cargo.

When you get a very rare drop in price that takes an age to filter through if it ever does.

There are 159 litres in a barrel of oil approx 1/2 will be refined into petrol.

I wanted to get an older petrol Jag when I replaced my Mondeo but decided to switch to a diesel as the fuel costs and road tax were better... if I'm going to waft around in a bit of luxury I don't see why the Chancellor should have the benefit

I have a Jaguar diesel. £135pa tax, £165pa insurance and 40 MPG. Great car!

thats why i wanted a 51 plated rover 75, but instead have a 99 plated one.

still

£200ish a year tax

£300ish a year insurance

nearly 50mpg no matter how i drive it

and as much comfort as one could ask for.

You could do that without a huge hike in fuel prices.

A big bit of thought and a lot of families could probably make a big reduction in their petrol/ diesel usage.

Sometimes the 'I NEED to go there.....' turns out to be 'I CHOOSE to go there......'.
