just now getting my old girl through her mot, for the next year.

needs a new back box.

took it to a garage and they have told me its the original exhaust and needs fully replacing.

thing is, the car is 14 years old and has done 130k.

usually manufacturers exhausts have rusted away well before now.

also read that someone has had the same tyres on her car for the last 4 years?

mine last 6-8 months tops.

so, what has lasted an extraordinarily long time on your vehicle?

Front break pads on one of my VW's. 45000 miles, and still had about 3mm of lining. Was chatting to a guy who owns a 1964 Ford Zephyr. The original electric aerial that was fitted from new, still works fine.

VW diesel engines usually last much longer than the rest of the car. My current one has 175k and I would bet good money that its good for at least another 100k

The steering wheel is about the only original part of my car. Every day when I pull up at work it spectacularly falls apart like a clowns car

The upper wishbones on my Alfa are 18 months old and still not squeaking, I think that's some kind of record!....

I have a stainless exhaust on it now so it should out last the car, with the exception of the flexi section which is prone to speedbump damage, luckily its just a couple of bolts and 20mins under the car.

It's ok she takes them off every night and keeps them in her garage.

They just look ok...lol

There's no telling the condition the rubbers in. It's the whole reason for swapping the rears with the fronts.

I explained it all in the other thread..

I've got a 29yr old Merc 230ce, everything is original except tyres, etc, it could do with a repaint but she still shines like my head
