Not just in the "preparing for the end of the world" type stuff, but also the more mundane local disaster type stuff.

Sure, I can "live off the land", use weapons and have essentials stored away, but I'm also prepared for the less scary, less drawn out shit that can happen, like power cuts etc.

You would be surprised at how quickly people struggle when the power was out for about 18 hours here a few years ago when a tree took a main cable out, and when we have heavy snow and roads get blocked, you see people panicking about the basics that run out.
