"I have similar and the waiting staff/food runners have to do all the washing up and make desserts as well as all the waiting tasks, then we get moaned at for not doing stuff and on minimum wage too, plus hours cut, not worth going in sometimes " its one of those situations that if i left to make myself happier id make it harder for friends ive left behind (thats if i could find another job).. id also feel guilty. so conflicting. the management wont get agency staffing in, yet there are no incentives for 'home staff' to take on more hours..

"make a list of areas to improve and your suggestions and arrange a chat with your boss, they more than likely will appreciate that you care of your role, the residents and the company. good luck " tragically View i have already expressed concerns to my deputy manager and when nothing was done went to my manager. His mrs is currently in labour so his mind is elsewhere no one has any rota's for next week so no idea what childcare i need to book.. its all just frustrating, if i dont laugh i think id have a mini meltdown and cry.

" are you in a union? what was the commitment they made about posting the rotas, how many weeks in advance did they commit to? is it the deputy who normally does the rota or the manager, ask the deputy ? there may be a reason for the delay ( not acceptable but there may be rationale ) is there a regional manager ? you are asking because you care for the residents, you want to deliver the best for them... it is always about how you escalate challenges, you have followed the appropriate processes it would seem, escalate it now. good luck,

"well i called up spoke to the manager again and i've been formally invited to a meeting tomorrow to discuss my grievances... bricking it, but hope i get the right outcomes for me and others. " jot it all down in very constructive nuggets, the impacts to the patients, the business, their brand and you: and with recommendations where possible. speak through the staff shortages from a duty of care perspective and the impact to the brand when visitors arrive and the image they may take away speak very little of behalf of others, if at all. good luck

It sounds freakishly like my current place of work.

"thank you A Jay,, u know that i can talk a lot, just have to be clear, concise and to the point. Explain the issues, why i believe things are unacceptable and what id like the outcomes to be" You've got it - non confrontational with reasonable, achievable outcomes that should benefit everyone.

"reads just like the wifes employer a major supermarket so understaffed it is nearly unworkable and if senior managers turn up they want it alll running perfect, she gets phone calls asking if she is available to go in at short notice to help out with cover I told her always say no just do your contracted hours." funny thing is, ive just had a phone call asking if i can cover a shift tomorrow.. i said yes but needed to check with my childcare provider. called back straight away, spoke to the administrator who said was it authorized by the manager (i dont know as was asked by a nurse) so was then told NOT to come in as he has to give the all clear. no bloomin consistency or communication arghhhhhhh

"I'm pretty sure there's a limit to the amount of heat you can work in and the duration without certain working conditions, even if there's no limit to how hot it has to be. I got heat stress and stroke regulary in work years ago and customers that came into the store complained it was like walking into a furnace. I was doing eight hour shifts too. They didn't provide refreshment, didn't allow breaks away from the store even beyond 6 hours, and they didn't have any form of ventilation or air con whatsoever. So we broke all the rules and told them if they didn't like it, they could fire us all and see us later at the tribunal." if working a 12 hour shift we get an hour off unpaid which we can leave the building. issue being on this dreaded weekend coming up that as there will only be 2 members off staff means neither of us can take a lunch break away from the floor.. its bad enough to work with 2 staff, never mind being a lone worker.
