i wont bother theres lots of things you can die of and you dont know whats happening to your body because you cant have tests for everything.

also you can get tested and then a few weeks later get something wrong with you. i do have smear tests though.

they only offer people mamograms when they reach 50 but younger people get cancer too.

also they only offer women smear tests when they are about 20 which is wrong because women under 20 get cervical cancer as well.

Well ena if you don't want to bother then at least ask the men you play with to feel for lumps.....you can enjoy it and maybe one day you may thank one of them for saving your life,im sure your husband would thank them too

That's your decision.

I know that when I noticed a difference I had a mammogram within a week and the consultation with the doctor the same day. The pain I was experiencing made me go and check it out.

I have a bad habit of cupping my left breast and tracing the nipple when I'm thinking hard. Not so bad at home not so good when judging a debate between school kids.

Prevention is better than cure as they say. So, get checked everyone. As early as you can. Don't take your health for granted - health is wealth

...reminder for myself first though.

Have an aunt who has recently found some lumps in her breasts. We are awaiting results this week from the hospital. Fingers crossed.

No point checking mine tbh because they are naturally very lumpy and there's too much of them to "get to know" as the advice says I should.

If I went to the doctor everytime I found a lumpy bit I might as well move in to the surgery. It worries me a bit but it's just one of those things.

Can I just add, check armpits too.

Breast cancer is often detected by a lump in the armpit.

I have lots of lumps too. What I note is whether any of the lumps feel different or if there is an increase in lumps.

As stated above, check your armpits too - and that's easier to do.

I wonder how many men would go to the doctor about a lump. My grandad died of bresst cancer before I was born. I am curious how commonly known it is that men can get it.

I had a scare afew years back and went to get it seem to! luckly it turned out to be just a cyst! So i'd have no hesitation going to a doctor again if i was ever unlucky enough to find anything again abnormal.

The great thing about such progress is that we can now talk about it more easily.

About 30 years ago I found a hard 'lump' in a girlfriend's breast and didn't know how to tell her.

I chickened out, told her pal and the pair of them trotted off for screening. Fortunately it wasn't cancer.

That is progress. I recently felt a lump in a testicle and felt I had to mention it. It turns out they knew about it and had had it checked but of no one ever says anything then things don't get checked.

Is weekly not a bit too often?

I can't find much on the web but I'd think checking monthly would be a more appropriate gap.

It's a bit like that business of when you see kids every day you don't don't see the changes.

I may be very wrong and wouldn't wish to disrupt a routine people are comfortable with.

Some years ago a charity shop in Alnwick collected bras for a similar cause.

The hung them on a clothes line across the street and invited people to identify the previous owners from a selection of photographs.

They made almost as much from the photo contest as they did selling the bras.

The age is 25 for smear tests which is just wrong. I had cervical cancer at 27 and needed a full hysterectomy. I have 2 daughters aged 18 and 22 and even with the family history they won't be screened until they reach 25
