Why do socks come in sizes 6-9 and 9-12?

My feet are a 9 and one size is too small the other too big! Why don’t they make individual sizes?

Are 9's not sensible? I can easily get shoes not heels though but you dont wear heals with socks and I dont really want to wear heels if I can. Socks though its a nightmare.

Thats me with the 9-11s and it curls up in my shoe or if i pull them up the heel bit is half way up the back of my leg and I look like a dogs sausage.

I tried cutting and sewing up but it looked like a badly stuffed kebab on the cut end and I was shy about taking my shoes off.

My mother did that (she skipped the boiling bit, just washed too hot) with my favourite thigh length jumper. After it came out of the tumble dryer, I just cut it open at the front and sewed a full length zip on; it was a lovely thick winter coat for the neighbour's lad (12 years old).
