In the 80s I remember having a pair of snow boots that were my brothers and mum making me wear 3 pairs of socks and carrier bags in them yes. We had one gas fire we used to get dressed in front of and we had icicles on.the inside of the windows.

Yup

done all that and when ya gloves were wet after snowballing, we would use socks

As we didnt have central heating, the house was bloody freezing in the winter and ice formed on the inside....loads of coats on top of the blankets made all the difference

We didn't wear shoes to school nor did we have coats, hats, scarves and gloves we also didn't have a TV/Telephone.

Mind you I went to school in Barbados till I was 6/7 and we wore flip flops and the TV station only came on at 5pm with Adam 12 .

Very sure. Not at the age for memory loss just yet

We were saying about 3 or 4 years ago how it always seemed to snow during our childhood but then it never did anymore. And then since we had that chat it's snowed every bloody year!

No I was never allowed to wear damaged shoes because dad had been in the army twenty years previously and handed down the abuse he took from the drill instructor for not knowing how to polish his boots properly.

So we got really cheap shoes that tore the skin off your feet instead.

We had coal fires so the house was always warm....i remember carrier bags in snow boots tho.

We had the most amazingly embarrassing primary school uniforms tho to save our clothes.

Mainly because we were the only kids in the school that wore one

I am not sure if I feel good or bad after reading this but suffice to say I don't remember it as not something I had to do.

We did have a freezing cold house though as my parents being Scottish didn't want to turn the heating on!

So unless you were in a room with a fire in it was extra jumpers.
