"Get a pressure cooker instead. You can do a gallon of stew in 20mins. No need to have the oven on all day"

Beer can chicken. Take the top off the beer with a can opener. Drink half.

Insert the rest, still in can up the chook's 'cavity' and position upright in oven.

Cool normally.

No exciting recipes, just a tip - root vegetables take ages in a slow cooker, so cut them small and have more liquid than you think you need for stews.

Hi fruitloop.

Best use of a slow cooker is utilising cheap cuts of meat, which become tasty and tender after a looooong sloooow coooook.

It can save you a lot of money too. You can get a rolled lamb breast for less than two quid and that can serve a few people. Same with cheap stewing steak, so long as its more meat than anything else. have fun with that

East Yorkshire

I love the new one that's got an aluminium lot so you can use it on the hob to brown things first then straight on to cook slow. I'm gonna invest in a new one this month and that's the one I'm going for!!

Never thought about sage in dumplings. I usually use horseradish or thyme but sage sounds nice

London

Prefer Dutch ovens/La Crueset, have quite few of them,in different sizes.

Browning the meat thne slow works or us.

Pork, Peppers and tomatoes

Chorizo and chicken

On a beef stew throw a thinly diced lemon peel, rosemary and raw garlic on when serving.

Best culinary invention ever. Tenderises any meat, retains so much goodness from anything. Get one. Save money on power bills and food is delicious.
