I was wondering does anyone else take this drug?

If so how do you take your? I take my 175mg every morning and leave it an hour before I eat anything.

Also are you experiencing any side effect? I have only been taking thyroxine since May due to having a total thyroidectomy but I feel awful I am always tired with a sore throat and very moody and emotional, as I don't think my dosage is quite right.

Any help and advice would be greatly received.

xx

I take it and it isn't a drug it's a replacement for your natural thyroid function. If you still feel like you do you need to see a health professional and get your levels checked, there is nothimg any of us can do. You should also be eating plenty of fish and using salt with iodine in it.

May to now is a bit soon to get the does right. You may need more or less.

Keep pushing for checks.

Do you have a family history of thyroid problems? Almost all the women in my family on my Mother's side have thyroid problems.

sorry didn't answer all your questions. I take mine last thing at night, I get check yearly but if I don't feel right I get checked when I feel I need to and if my dosage changes I'm checked every three months for a while.

I've never had any side effects except for the required ones and my does have varied from 75 to 150, currently at 100.

This isn't something that remains static and you really should be getting a blood test as often as you feel you need it.

Good luck

oh right sorry for assuming you didn't!

In my experience you need to really push for proper care with hypothyroidism regardless of cause so maybe explain how you're feeling to the docs if you haven't already, I have been told that it takes about a week for any changes to be felt once a dosage is altered.

I don't suffer but I know a friend who does and she's managing hers with natural remedies and the lowest level of thyroxine. One of the biggest culprits she's told me about that effects the thyroid is tap water I think she said its to do with the added fluoride. She only drinks bottled water and says it's made a huge difference to her health. I'll check what else she's using.

Bumblebea carpal tunnel syndrome is strongly linked with having an underactive thyroid gland.. it normally vanishes when your t4 and tsh are 'normal'

Id go get some bloods done

I've been taking levothyroxine for 3 years now. I forget to take my meds all the time though!! I'm always cold and tired and I've been having trouble seeing lately, the opticians have referred me to the hospital because its looking like the muscles behind my eyes are weak which they're worried is linked to under active thyroid. I swear though you could have anything wrong with you, google it and it's linked to under active thyroid!?

Is it true about the tap water? I drink tones!! (well litres)

Depends where you live and what, if anything, your local authority / health board add to it.

I've been taking Thyroxene for a few years now, 75 mg. Had no problems at all but had several blood tests to get the dose right. On the subject of tap water versus bottled water you should ask your water company to say if there is fluoride in your water supply and to what level. Talk to your Dr about it and get the dose right!

Good luck, I dread the blood tests, I'm scared of needles!! Silly but there it is.

Ah I see, I think we have quite good water, I've just got back from visiting a family member in London, I was convinced their cordial was off until I figured it could of been the water, it even smelt funny!
