"I let my son down, when my mom died I had a breakdown and couldnt leave the house. I missed his graduation. I hate the way I just couldnt force myself to go. It was pathetic. ![]() It's your mum, all mums are pillars.. Honestly don't know how I'll cope that day.. You were there for your boy every day before and every day after... Just like your mum was for you.. It's not pathetic it's called grief

"I'm sure I have, but the one that sticks in my mind happened in 1997. I'd recently started my job and my boss and I had an important meeting with the Treasury Solicitors. We'd spent the previous day preparing our papers and we agreed to meet 8am to double check everything. That morning my children woke up sick: all of them. I felt awful but I had this important meeting so my husband stayed and looked after them while I drove off to work. Got in about 7.45, checked through paper work and waited...and waited. 11am my boss phoned to say he'd phoned and postponed the meeting, he was calling me from the vets, his dog was sick! I let my kids down, putting work before them when they needed me, being "professional" whilst my boss didn't hesitate for his dog, not even bothering to let me know. A valuable lesson learnt though: nothing/no one comes before my kids or I. Sixteen years: still annoyed with myself! " You left them with their Dad, that is not letting them down

"Yes but try to give people plenty of warning that I can't make it, hate letting people down. " If you're giving notice that you can't make it that's not letting them down - it's damn near the opposite, being kind & helpful and considerate.. Being let down is waiting for hours only to find they were never coming anyway! ![]()
