Abortion/death penalty/euthanasia - murder?

The abortion topic always brings out the pro-choice and the pro-lifers, but what about these other topics? Can you seriously believe it's not okay to abort and yet condemn a murderer to die at the State's hands (technically legal murder) or vice versa? What about those dying (extreme health conditions such as motor neurone disease), have they a right to say they they don't want to live any more and so pop off to a Swiss clinic?

These are extremely emotive subjects, let's not slam each other however much we disagree with the opinions (that's a note to myself included ).

Abortion: pro choice

Death penalty: unsure but only due to miscarriages of justice

Right to Die: yes, you should definitely be able to choose when and how you want to die

Surely you realise that you can't choose when people live or die despite the consequences of them doing so, thats purely the decision of (Insert deity of choice here).

The only acceptable time this can be overruled is obviously when (Insert mob/government here) clearly have to correct the mistakes of (Insert deity of choice here).

Abortion - pro choice. It would be insane to return to the days when abortion was illegal but I do wish that (a) abortion is never to be seen as a contraception alternative (but have known it to be), and (b) they would review the age of which it can be done until. Even if they reduce it to 22 weeks as babies of 23-24 weeks gestation have approx 25-50% survival rate.

Death penalty - I would like to see the death penalty returned largely as a deterrent, but used for extreme cases: Peter Sutcliffe, Fred West, Harold Shipman.

Euthanasia - This is a difficult one. If we allowed it in this country I can see it being open to abuse for those vulnerable in our society. Therefore I would not like the laws to change.

Pretty much my feelings, although can see why some would want to bring back the death penalty instead of keeping a roof over the head of some criminals.

Think euthanasia should be allowed, but with tight controls to prevent it being abused after all we'd put a dog down to prevent it suffering so why could I not choose to die with the same dignity should I be so ill I have no quality of life?

Abortion - pro choice

Death penalty - yes in extreme cases

Euthanasia - Definitely.

I have a relative that is now in the later stages of alzhmiers, he has no quaity of life, does not recognise me & needs 24/7 nursing care. Before he got too bad in times of clarity he often said he wanted to die. I have pwer of attorney over all his affairs & earlier this year when he was hospitalised & things were looking bad, I made the decision to have DNR put on his records.Technically I was giving permission to let him die.

This relative is my father & I'm watching him slowly die as the condition gets worse & his brain shuts down. It will get to a stage when the brain cannot think to breathe & he will probably die in his sleep. xxx
