A good number of profiles have these, is there any point?

Any institution or person using this site or any of its associated sites for study or projects - You do not have our permission to use any of our profile or pictures in any form or forum both current or future. If you have or do, it will be considered a serious violation of my privacy and will be subject to legal ramifications.

It's a waste of time, don't know how so many people have thought it was legally binding and necessary to put it on there profile

No point whatsoever. Would any institution really take notice. And more importantly how many people who place that on profiles would actually go through with expensive legal proceedings... None i think by placing things on internet youve placed in public domain for all to access

In a crisp poke on the A814

A lot of people join, see it on the profile of others and think it means something.....

Its the ones that have been here long and still have it that get me....

It actually says somewhere on the site that it's useless and all it does is waste server space.

Very true. I wonder how cheap it would be to be a site supporter if that wasn't the case.

How many people would want their swinging life revealed, by a court case, and how many people would have unlimited funds to take it to court, a complete waste of space.

The warning seems to take up more space, than many of the profiles its on

Reminds of a story from years back in Belfast. A guy down on his luck advertised in the local papers 'the biggest and best vibrator on sale £10' he got, say, 10000 orders. He had purchased 3 only vibrators at £50 and sent them out to the first 3 orders. For all the rest he sent a refund cheque for the full amount. The signatory at the bottom in bold writing was 'VIBRATOR and DILDOD company'

Now northern Ireland is a small company and everyone knows their banker. Very few people cashed in their cheque as they didn't want the cashier to see the name.

So if someone used your intimate pictures in Australia or somewhere - would you put your name to a lawsuit? and be reported in the papers?

didn't think so!

Glasgow

One firm nearly went bust putting a jewellery offer in Spare Rib or Harpies and Quines or something.

It was so popular they ran out of stock and the cost of posting refunds to customers they couldn't satisfy was more than the margin on the stock they sold.

Sadly the "legal disclaimer" is about as useful as ice cream hats. Seems like a good idea.....

The reality is, people who put it on their profile are probably the same people who send money to Nigeria or post "warnings" on facebook that have been deliberately put there to make them look an absolute arse!

North of The Wall - youll need your vest

From Site FAQ:

We've noticed a legal disclaimer paragraph that some people have on their profiles. Should we have one too? What are they about? Do they do any good?

The "legal disclaimer" is pointless nonsense and all does is take up extra space on our servers. Please remove it if you have it on your profile. If you're worried about privacy please set your account to be hidden from non-registered users on your privacy page (this also hides it from search engines but may take a week or two to drop out of search) and remove the notice (and encourage others to do likewise).

Common sense advice would be NOT to put any information on your profile (here, or on any such site) that could identify you or that you don't want to become public! So for your own benefit, don't post phone numbers, real names or email / instant message addresses on your profile that people might see or "Google".

Some people may put non-identifying pics on their public profile but keep face pics private or for friends, for example.

Its not only what you have on your profile that can give clues to who you actually are.

How many are happy to post what car they drive, what club the are going to,what area they live in, it can all be garnered by others wanting to find you.

You would be amazed how much innocent info is given away freely.

A total waste of time they just show who is a paranoid fuck and who isn't. If you don't want your profile to be looked at or pictures copied don't put them up in the first place.

Google image and Tineye have a far more efficient mechanism for collection, Fabbers on here throw everyone else's pictures at them.

How many must Tineye have by now?
