Dvd hard drives

My dvd player / recorder has died. Inside it there is a hard drive. Does anybody know if it is the same as a computer hard drive. I have leads and power source and can transfer a hard drive to a pc via usb. Therefore if a dvd player has a conventional hard drive i can retrieve the hard drive content and transfer to new dvd via usb, i think

Depends on the file system used on the hard drive (if your PC can read it) and if the video files are not encrypted (such as Sky Plus encrypt all their recorded files).

buy a seconhand recorder there wont be a warranty
